Upon arrival in Chengdu, a professional staff member will meet you at the airport and transfer you to the hotel for check-in.

Take a morning flight from Chengdu to Xining. In Xining, visit the Li Meng Pedestrian Street and bath or rest at hourly hotel before boarding the renowned Qinghai-Tibet train to Lhasa. This journey takes approximately 21 hours and offers a unique experience of the majestic scenery of the Tibetan Plateau. The Qinghai-Tibet Railway is the highest and longest high-altitude railway in the world, known as the “Heavenly Road.” As the train traverses the magnificent Tibetan Plateau, passengers will be captivated by the alternating views of snow-capped mountains, grasslands, and lakes. Throughout the journey, passengers will not only marvel at the grandeur of the highland railway but also experience the diverse cultures and changing landscapes from Xining to Lhasa.

In the evening, the train will arrive in Lhasa, where the guide will pick you up at the train station and transfer you to your hotel for rest. Lhasa sits at an altitude of approximately 3,650 meters. Upon arrival at the high plateau, it is advised to avoid strenuous activities and eat moderately. To better acclimate to the high-altitude climate, it is recommended not to wash your hair or take a shower that night. Keep warm and drink plenty of boiled water.

Visit the Potala Palace, the world’s highest palace that combines palaces, castles, and temples into one. It is divided into the Red Palace and the White Palace and was built during the reign of Songtsen Gampo in the 7th century. The palace houses a large collection of Buddha statues, murals, and stupas of successive Dalai Lamas, making it a treasure trove of Tibetan cultural and artistic heritage. Next, visit the Jokhang Temple, built by Songtsen Gampo to welcome his Nepalese bride, Princess Bhrikuti. Inside the temple, there are statues, including the 12-year-old statue of Shakyamuni brought by Princess Wencheng of the Tang Dynasty. The Jokhang Temple is one of the most splendid surviving buildings from the Tubo period. Afterward, explore the Barkhor Street and its free market, where you can admire the ancient Tibetan architecture and observe the local Tibetan way of life. Enjoy your exploration of Lhasa’s rich cultural heritage!

In the eyes of Tibetans, yamdrok lake resembles a turquoise earring scattered by a goddess among the peaks. With an elevation of 4441 meters, the lake’s water is crystal clear and smooth as a mirror. After crossing the Gyatso Pass, we will pass by the Karola Glacier, which is the closest glacier to the road in Tibet and shines brightly year-round. We continue journey to Shigatse, and check in at Shigatse (Altitude: Around 3800 Meters) hotel, and rest.

Depart from Shigatse and first visit Tashilhunpo Monastery, a significant Tibetan Buddhist temple renowned for its magnificent architecture and rich historical culture. The monastery houses the stupas of the successive Panchen Lamas and is an important religious site in Tibet. After the visit, enjoy the stunning scenery along the Yarlung Tsangpo River Basin, where the breathtaking landscapes of the river valleys are truly mesmerizing. Continue onward to Lhasa, arriving in this historic and culturally rich city to begin an in-depth exploration of Tibetan culture.
